Things you find on a beach
Maybe not a typical beach, but found on my beach, yesterday.
Big equipment:
We have a drainage/erosion issue going on due to the fact that the lake is so high. So since mid August we have had tons of big equipment working at the far east end of the beach. I would give you a more specific name for this big equipment, but alas, they all look the same to me.
Boulders:
In addition to the boulders in the photo of big equipment there are even more boulders. Yesterday as my friend Calla and I were enjoying margaritas on the beach, the ground starting shaking. Like seriously shaking and rumbling. Since Eastlake was the epicenter of the Cleveland 4.0 magnitude quake back in June, I was pretty certain we were having another one. Turns out, it was the erosion control guys dumping massive boulders in the middle of our cul de sac. By the time I took the photo below they had already placed most of them but there were probably 30 of these monsters to start.

Butterflies:
While I was beach combing looking for beach glass, I happened to look up at the cliff right in front of me only to see 100s of monarch butterflies flitting around. I used my Google Googles to find out the name of the tree/bush that they were enamored with and discovered it is an invasive Japanese Knotweed. What do you know about that. Something that is considered a a problematic weed attracts these glorious creatures. No wonder their migration phenomenon is endangered.
Beach glass:
I know, I post a lot of photos online about my beach glass finds but I love the stuff! I love collecting it, finding ways to display it inertly and, when the weather turns I'm planning to make stuff using it. Stay tuned for that! This was yesterday's haul!
Sunset:
And last, for now, but certainly not least, sunsets! We have lived here at Sunset Cove for 13 months and I have hundreds, maybe even thousands of sunset photos. When I ask my neighbors who have lived here for a really long time if it ever grows old, I'm told never. And that makes me smile. So here's one from tonight - and stay tuned for many more to come!
As always, thanks for reading.
